Ministry

Our purpose is to connect youth in British Columbia and Yukon.  To bring them together to experience a safe, accepting community where lasting friendships are formed, good memories are made and everyone is given the opportunity to grow and develop spiritually.  The following events are some of the ways we continue our ministry.

THANKSGIVING WEEKEND

Our main event each year is over the Thanksgiving weekend. We arrange busses to transport everyone to a church somewhere in the province.  The elected youth council that plans this weekend finds an exciting and engaging speaker to lead sessions on relevant spiritual topics.  Every year is different, but your next Thanksgiving weekend could have anything from special out trips and service projects to dances and fantastic games.  One thing we can guarantee at this weekend is a fun time, fellowship, friendship and growth.  For this year’s Thanksgiving weekend information, look at the EVENTS CALENDAR and the POSTER.

YOUNG SOJOURNERS

Every spring, we partner with Sorrento Center (better than peanut butter partnered with jelly, if you know what we mean). Sorrento Centre (check Sorrento Centre out here) invites the speakers, who work with youth from the BCYAM fall event to provide an outstounding (outstandingly/astoundingly) time for all participants. Enlightening sessions, team service projects, music and a regular good time are to be expected.

COUNCIL MEETINGS

Most of the work between our Thanksgiving weekends is done by a dedicated council of youth who take our mission to heart. Members to the council are elected at the Thanksgiving Weekend and meet up to 4 times a year to plan two events, reflect on our mission and goals, and explore new opportunities. These meetings take place in a variety of places around the province, and are open to anyone who is interested in attending. Check the events calendar for dates of our upcoming meeting.
